I was able to successfully update the software to 1.16 by using the DCX Remote 1.16a software.
Recovery is possible from this state by rebooting the unit while holding the A channel button, this puts it into software load mode. This bricked the unit and it would stay at the boot splash. This update failed, with the software reporting a failure. Because I think I know better than the experts (ahem!!) I decided to download it. DCX software doesn't support windows 98 (it says). I've downloaded the remote software and am trying to 'talk' to the unit, but am having issues with 2 different laptops.
